life ~ a photostory

~ a life update in the form of a photostory ~ this is truly Julia's aesthetic, entirely by accident, most of her closet is blue and white stripes. she's always either wearing her airplane propeller necklace or her dream necklace, wearing double dutch braids.  Once upon a time, there was a girl named Julia. She was a dreamer, one with a good imagination and wide horizons. Some of her happiest days as a teenager were spent taking photos of dolls, lying in the street to get the perfect angle. Her dolls were like built in friends, companions wherever she went, on trips and vacations and outings.  As she grew up, Julia grew busier and busier, and high school was a lot of work. But she had goals and she did everything she could to reach them. One of them was graduating two years early, which took up a lot of time and energy. After hours upon hours of studying, she finally graduated.  Taking a gap year beginning in 2020, the weirdest year of the century, she had no lack of other thi

The Big Birthday Bash, part 2

(continued from part one)

"You guys... are awesome." Elly could hardly contain her excitement. "Thank you so much!"

"Thank you for making this day special," Elizabeth hugged each of her sisters and Grace, then turned to Julie.
"How on earth did you keep this a secret?!?!?" she exclaimed.
"You know me too well!" Julie laughed. "I very nearly ruined it lots of times!"

"Let's get on with this!" Grace called everyone over to the gift table. "Gifts first, birthday girl!"

She waved her hand over the packages neatly wrapped in brightly colored paper and curly ribbon.

The rest of the girls seated themselves in a half circle around the clubhouse.

Elly took a seat beside Grace,  more excited than any other time in her life.

Grace selected one of the presents and read the label aloud.

"Elizabeth," she looked up at the girls. "Who is this one from?"

"Me," Samantha said shyly.

Elizabeth enthusiastically flipped the package over and began opening it.

"It's so beautifully wrapped, I don't want to rip it!" she giggled.

"Oh, it's beautiful!" Elizabeth exclaimed as a leather journal fell out.
"Journey Journal," she tilted her head. "Did you make this? It's absolutely beautiful! You did a great job!"

She flipped through the pages neatly lined in perfectly straight lines before hopping up and going over to Sam.

"Thank you, Samantha! I love it, and I'll use it- I promise!" Elizabeth embraced her sister tightly before returning to the present from Katie.

"What on earth?!" Elizabeth said, puzzled.

"What is it?!" she asked Katie, but Katie just mischievously grinned.

Slipping her finger underneath the cheery ribbon, she slipped it off and read off the slips of paper.

"Seriously?! Tickets to Maryellen's movie on the 25th! Thanks, Katie! This'll be fun!"

"There's enough for the whole family," Kathleen pointed out.
"That's totally awesome! Great present- thanks!"

"Okay, the next one is from Amelia." Grace selected another beautifully wrapped present.

"Very artistic," Elly noted the curly writing and flowered paper.

"Oooooh!" Elizabeth unwrapped the present.

"Adventure Awaits," Elly looked up. "This is super pretty Amy, but you're gonna have to teach me how to sketch in it!"

"That's part of your present!" Amy declared.
"Thank you!" Elizabeth didn't know if she could smile any bigger.

She ran her hand over the soft leather cover before setting it aside and looking up at Grace expectantly.

"Mine next!" Julie insisted.

Julie hurried over to Grace's side to make sure she had a good view and that it was the right gift.

It was a really tiny white origami box with blue ribbon curled around the edges (this took me forever to do- I made the box and actually tied the ribbon- it's insanely small, like the size of my fingernail! Or something like that...)

"Elizabeth," Grace extended the present.

Elizabeth curiously examined the box. What could be so tiny?

After slipping off the ribbon, Elizabeth paused.

"What..." she tipped the box on its side and took off the lid.
Julie peered over Grace's shoulder to see Elly looking up in surprise.
"This has got to be your best creation yet! I am totally wearing these!" Elizabeth declared.

She slipped one on and held it up.

Inside the tiny box were three other rings, all handmade by Julie.

"Do they fit okay?" Julie asked anxiously. "I modeled them on me, but I'm not sure.."
"They're perfect!" Elizabeth assured her. "I love them!"

"Alright, Elizabeth," Josie stood up. "I have been entrusted with your present that is half mine, half L4TL's. Now that you are officially thirteen, you are legally allowed to sit in the front seat, have social media accounts, go to the OCC processing center, and have your own phone. So here, I present you..."

So what do you think it is?! It is I who knows, and up to you to find out by reading the next part when I get it up! Until then, I leave you in semi-suspense!

  1. *explodes* CLIFFHANGERS! I LOVE THEM!
LOL. XD This was so amazing!! I loved the way you wrote everything together and how gorgeous the scenery in the background is - not to mention the setup! It looks fabulous! And I LOVE the rings Julie made for Elizabeth! ;) They look incredible! Are they scrapbooking pins or something like that? I would never have thought of it! You're so creative! You should do a craft post on how to make the easiest dolls rings ever out of a scrapbooking pin. :D (If that's what it was, LOL)

    1. Thank you! I worked really hard on it all of last week! If you ever need a road or something like that, use sidewalks! :) They're actually just brad fasteners- you know, the gold or silver ones... Just place it on their finger and wrap it around! :D I've still got two or three more parts because I took over 300 pictures for it!!

    1. Yes she is! I can't wait to go either! I think that Elly and Julie will end up 'going' soon! Look for an OCC post really soon with them packing, and then going to the processing center, and then maybe even 'distributing'!

  4. Oh really! I just turned thirteen, and am so excited to go to the processing center this year! My sisters both got to go, and finally it's my turn!
Are you taking any of your dolls with you?

    1. Unfortunately, I'm not, but I'll be setting up a processing center for them in my room soon! It's kinda funny - I used cream cheese boxes for them, and my sister just had her birthday and she had cheesecake so... now I have ten more boxes to wrap and use!

    2. That is so cool! Are you going to post pictures?
Maybe I'll do something like that after I come home. Mind if I use the idea?

    3. As soon as I can, yes! I can't wait to set it all up and have them do it. I know it'll be pretty different from the actual processing center, but I'll try to get it as close as possible! I don't mind at all, though I'd love it if you mentioned the post that inspired you! So glad you like the idea!

    4. Of course!
Have you ever been to the processing center? I haven't as this is my first year being old enough, but my sisters both went.

    5. I wasn't able to go this year for several reasons, but I'm DEFINITELY going next year for sure and won't let anything else get in the way! My older sister has gone several times as well!

  5. That's too bad. I can't wait to see your dolls's processing center though!

    1. I know! I was really sad about it, but I'm looking forward to next year! I'm super excited to set it up! It'll probably be pretty soon, I just need to buckle down and do it! :D
