First of all, I'm going to say that I just think these dolls are the ones I would get next, if I had that opportunity.
You see, I'm also trying to *ahem* follow Hebrews 13:5 (Hebrews 13:5-8 (NASB)
5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”) . It's hard- harder than I thought! But still, it's fun to dream!
1. Lea Clark
Lea is waaaaaay prettier in real life. Photos don't do her justice! Her hair is so pretty (and curly too!) , and she's more unique. I personally am glad that AG has made the GOTYs more unique: Grace, Lea, Saige, Kanani... I give my personalities to each of my dolls (one per girl!): Sam (writer), Amy (artist), Elly (animal lover), Katie (sportsy), Julie (crafter), Josie (baker). If I had Lea, she'd be the photographer!
2. Melody Ellison
I absolutely love Melody: she reminds me of me! When I was little, my hair flipped out just like that, and was really dark too! I have the Mini Melody, and she's adorable! I also like that she'd be different from the rest of my dolls (in case you haven't noticed, I like the unique ones!) and would bring a great personality to my doll family! She'd be the musician, though I have no idea how to make a doll piano (and I don't intend on spending $80-$150 one one!)...
3. Maryellen Larkin
Maryellen is gorgeous. I went to the store this summer- she is a must have! Her eyes just sparkle, and her hair is the really pretty strawberry-blond, though it turns reddish in some lighting! I don't have a red head yet, and I really would like one, so Maryellen is my first choice for a red-head doll! Her bangs sweep off to the side, and her hair is curly!!! < note the exclamation points- I don't have a curly haired doll, and so I'm currently semi-obsessed with curls! Maryellen would be my dancer- that's how I've always imagined her as!
4. Kaya'aton'my
I just recently added Kaya to my wishlist- I never realized how gentle and simply lovely she is! She's kind of like me (not the gentle, sereneness, but the looks): dark hair, dark eyes, medium skin tone- and her hair is really long too! I'm not quite sure what Kaya would be (personality-wise) in my doll family, but it clicks when I hold the doll in my hands.

The reason I haven’t saved up for any of these dolls:
There’s a girl on the other side of the world. My sister,
mother, and I split the cost of supporting her through Compassion, Int. You
see, God has provided in the most amazing ways the twelve dollars (that might sound like only a bit, but I don't get allowance- I already have more than I deserve!) for
Rose. Sometimes it’s almost midnight on
the last day of the month and somehow.. God provides! I’ve learned to trust
now, and I think that maybe I’ve gleaned more from this than Rose! Rose lives
in the Philippines, and her birthday is only like, a week from mine (except
that I’m older). If I spent the money that I earned/received/was blessed with
on a doll instead of Rose, I could’ve gotten two already. But every time I think about that, we receive a letter (which happens about once a year), and I realize how amazing it is that I can make a difference in someone else's life. I'm so thankful that God has provided every month for Rose... and for me. It's been an almost-two-year journey, and I think that I've grown too, in my trust!
( ^ yes, I finally made a sign-off and now I'm going to do a fall one soon!)
That is an even better thing to save for! That is cool! I like Maryellen, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think so too. I hope that one day I'll get to met 'my' sponsor child! Maryellen is ADORABLE!!! We've got something in common now (our love for Maryellen!)!
DeleteThat is awesome how you're supporting a child in the Philippines! I feed one child a month in other countries, too! I actually used to feel this way: "Why on earth would I spend my money on an AG doll when there are starving children around the world? That's selfish!" But then I realized that my God owns all the money in the world. He's not so poor that He wants me to pick and choose between an AG doll and feeding children. As long as I do my part and support the poor, too, He's got more than enough money to make sure I'm blessed as well!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I LOVE your sign-off! It's so pretty!

True, and well said, Madi! I'm half Filipino, so I was really happy when I was able to pick a girl from there. :) God does provide, doesn't He?! It reminds me of a saying I heard: "If God is in it, you can't stop it, If God's not for it, you can't make it last. And if you aren't willing to be used, God can use others. You're the one missing out." Or something like that!
DeleteThanks! Aw, that is SO awesome! And super cool you're half Filipino (I think that's how you spell it :P)!
DeleteOoh, I love that saying! So very true!
