life ~ a photostory

~ a life update in the form of a photostory ~ this is truly Julia's aesthetic, entirely by accident, most of her closet is blue and white stripes. she's always either wearing her airplane propeller necklace or her dream necklace, wearing double dutch braids.  Once upon a time, there was a girl named Julia. She was a dreamer, one with a good imagination and wide horizons. Some of her happiest days as a teenager were spent taking photos of dolls, lying in the street to get the perfect angle. Her dolls were like built in friends, companions wherever she went, on trips and vacations and outings.  As she grew up, Julia grew busier and busier, and high school was a lot of work. But she had goals and she did everything she could to reach them. One of them was graduating two years early, which took up a lot of time and energy. After hours upon hours of studying, she finally graduated.  Taking a gap year beginning in 2020, the weirdest year of the century, she had no lack of other thi

The Creative Catalog Writing Challenge (CCWC)

We challenge you.
Yes, we do.
I'm Kitrina, and I'm here with Samantha Parkington - rising young author.
We're here to bring you a new challenge: The Creative Catalog Writing Challenge.
Also known as CCWC.
It works like this:
We give you several options of photos from the American Girl catalog (most recent) and YOU write a story based on that scene - 100-1,000 words. Wide range, yes, but it gives you more opportunity for creativity.
Please note that:
ALL PHOTOS USED IN CCWC BELONG TO AMERICAN GIRL.
So yeah, let's go!
RULES:
- no misusage of God's name in vain
- proper grammar and spelling highly recommended
- winner receives shoutout and story posted here on DNA
- story must be posted on a blog or emailed to dollsnall4ever@gmail.com by set date
- story must not exceed 1,000 words

Ready? Oh, right. An example  - Samantha, would you do the honors?

I propped my feet up on my fold-out desk and mindlessly gazed through the rain-pelted window at the end of my room. I liked rainy days, so long as I wasn’t filming, gardening, playing with Popcorn outside (cleaning up muddy pawprints is a pain in the neck… and the shoulder… and the wrist), or doing anything of importance in the great outdoors. I flipped open my laptop and leaned back in my wonderful swivel chair. A little orange light flickered at the bottom of the screen, so I hastily plugged the charger in. I hated it when the computer died while I was editing one of my stopmotions. Oh, yeah – I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Suzie, but most people just call me Z. You know, like the last letter in the alphabet? Anyways, I’ll get on with it. I was careful not to accidently knock my camera or phone off the desk, because that would just be devastating. I clicked through several photos and vlogs until I came to the end of the files.

“Why don’t I have any inspiration?” I moaned. I scrolled through my previous videos and kept doing so, not even paying attention until the screen stopped moving because I had come to the final one. I shut my laptop, set it on my desk, checked the larger screen (the one for watching my finished products), and flipped through my calendar. Nothing exciting, nothing important. What could I do? I spotted my small reflector atop my desk, beside the somewhat carelessly tossed beanie and scarf. In the corner, I had my dolls all stacked up from an attempted photoshoot. I looked around at all the different things I had…. What if I created a room for my dolls? I had seen plenty of other people do it. With renewed inspiration, I reopened the laptop, went to Pinterest, and found several DIY projects I could do. Within a few minutes, I had a board full of crafts and ideas, and a lot of materials spread out across the hardwood floor. And that’s how I spent my rainy day.

Thank you Samantha. Oh, she said to let you know that that is a terrible piece and to please not judge her for her terrible quality. I thought it was wonderful, but she said she only spent like, three minutes on it. So yeah.
