life ~ a photostory

~ a life update in the form of a photostory ~ this is truly Julia's aesthetic, entirely by accident, most of her closet is blue and white stripes. she's always either wearing her airplane propeller necklace or her dream necklace, wearing double dutch braids.  Once upon a time, there was a girl named Julia. She was a dreamer, one with a good imagination and wide horizons. Some of her happiest days as a teenager were spent taking photos of dolls, lying in the street to get the perfect angle. Her dolls were like built in friends, companions wherever she went, on trips and vacations and outings.  As she grew up, Julia grew busier and busier, and high school was a lot of work. But she had goals and she did everything she could to reach them. One of them was graduating two years early, which took up a lot of time and energy. After hours upon hours of studying, she finally graduated.  Taking a gap year beginning in 2020, the weirdest year of the century, she had no lack of other thi

Save Our Shelter: Dashed Dreams, Part 2

Elly gasped in disbelief.
"What?!"
Ashlynne nodded sadly.
"The shelter needs a new building both for stability and for space, and with the increase of all the animals that we've been rescuing, we need more bedding, food, and pretty much more of everything. We just don't have the funds to keep going." she explained.

"Surely there's a way to keep this place alive," Elly protested, tears threatening to fall. What could she do to save the shelter? More importantly, what would she do without the shelter? And what about the animals?

"I've tried," Ashlynne admitted, her own lashes wet with tears. "Believe me, I've tried. This has been my dream ever since middle school. When I graduated two years ago, I finally found this place and opened it. I never thought that we'd have to shut down so soon."
"Ashlynne," Madi said thoughtfully. "What if we raised the money?"

"Then by all means, we could stay. But even to stay going for now, we'd need around $500,000. That way we could actually feed the animals, not get in trouble with the government, and rent a hazard-free building." Ashlynne said.
"Whoa..." Katie gulped.
Elly turned to them.
"We can at least try," she said boldly. "It'd never hurt to try."
"I'm all for it," Ashlynne put in. "But..."
"When there's a will, there's a way." Elly stated confidently.

As soon as they got home, Elly gathered her sisters.
"The shelter is closing and we need to save it." Elly stood before the assembly of her sisters, who just stood there.
"Okay..." Julie seemed skeptical.
"What do we do?" Josie asked.
"Raise around $500,000." she replied.
Julie whistled. "No. Way."
"Yeah..."
"I don't think we can do this," Amy whispered.
"We can." Madi said confidently.
Katie went up by Elly and hugged her.
"All fundraisers start somewhere. Let's start here, and now."
"Thanks, sis," Elly whispered.
"We reconvene on the hour!" Madi announced. "Bring your ideas with you!"

    1. Yes... well, it's short, but I figured this one was going to be the most boring out of all of them anyways, soooo... :D But then again, it makes it not a very good excuse that I was working on this one, eh?

  2. Very interesting story! While reading I was reminded of theanimalrescuesite's shelter challenge. They have an annual contest for people to nominate and vote on the shelter that needs the most help or is most deserving help.
