It always does, doesn't it?
I've dreaded writing this. I hate it. But life happens, right?
Anyways, I've found that blogging has created a wall between me and my family and God. I'm not kidding.
I've been spending way too much time stressing over deadlines and worrying about stuff that doesn't last.
My parents both agree that I've been doing it too much and I've placed blogging and dolls as my top priority. I've been annoying my older sister by bugging her about our room. And, she doesn't particularly care for seven dolls in her room. My little brothers, while they do like helping me build stuff for my dolls, miss me playing with them because I'm doing stuff on the computer. My baby sister is constantly disappointed because I won't let her dare play with my dolls unless I'm there because I don't want her messing up my intricate set up.
So really, the only person in my family who is really enjoying this... is me.
I guess you've already caught the gist of this post. This isn't a 'May Fools' trick. I'm serious.
I was stressing over Julie's party and getting everything ready. I got mad at several siblings for messing stuff up and it just fell apart. I has canceled it, but now I think I might be able to get a couple of pictures. I don't know. Just... don't be waiting for it. :) The cake that took forever got destroyed, and the décor was ruined. The booths were overturned (not my fault)....
But wait! I'm not leaving! I've loved every single moment of blogging and I love blogging! I don't want to give it up, but I know that I need to cut back on spending hours on the computer.
So I've decided on a compromise. For the month of May, I'll test this out.
I'm only going to 'check my stuff' (which means email, my reader, etc.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays rather than several times every day.
Second, I'm only going to work on my blog on the weekends. This is going to cut back the posts, but I don't want to miss out on my family. My sister only has a little more time before she probably goes to college, so yeah...
Thank you guys for making this adventure so awesome!

I hope this new schedule works well for you! It's hard to balance everything to make it feel like you're doing enough. Don't stress yourself out over your dolls or the blog. They, and we understand if you need to take a step back and breathe. Family is incredibly important, quality time is hard to find when everyone starts getting older, try to treasure it while you can.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your return! But have fun trying to get everything settled nicely.

Lainey, thank you so much! Your words are so sweet and are such an encouragement! Thank you again - it means a lot to me that you took the time to read this and comment with your beautiful words!
DeleteI'll miss you posting so frequently, but I think you made the right decision cutting back.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Natalie, for your kind words and understanding!
DeleteFriend to friend, I think your decision is really great. Taking more time to spend with God and your family is important, and you should never be stressed out over something you love. Your blogging skills are amazing, and always will be. Tell your siblings I said hi!

I'll miss posting too. :) THank you though! Yes, I will be posting her post this weekend when I get to blog. It is nice not to feel pressure! And I'm still having fun with photography and my dolls (a.k.a. making 9 doll outfits in two days)
DeleteI totally understand! My little sister just started crawling...
ReplyDeleteI hope your break helps you relationships with your family and God. I'll miss you !
Thank you! Aw, that's so cool! I remember when my little sister started crawling! It's so fun to see them learn! Thank you - I love reading your comments, and I'm still here on the weekends! :)
DeleteHi! You need to do what you need to do to keep yourself from burning out. I completely understand the drive to do more as well. From what you shared it sounds like it's time for a break. Embrace the new schedule and be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you - this is exactly what I mean! Everyone is so encouraging and understanding, I'm not afraid to say that I have to take a little break here and there! Thank you again! You are so sweet!
DeleteI understand . Sometimes my parents don't want me to be on the computer so much either. Like the other day I was looking at your blog and another blog , I forget the name and my mom told me it was time for bed .
