life ~ a photostory

~ a life update in the form of a photostory ~ this is truly Julia's aesthetic, entirely by accident, most of her closet is blue and white stripes. she's always either wearing her airplane propeller necklace or her dream necklace, wearing double dutch braids.  Once upon a time, there was a girl named Julia. She was a dreamer, one with a good imagination and wide horizons. Some of her happiest days as a teenager were spent taking photos of dolls, lying in the street to get the perfect angle. Her dolls were like built in friends, companions wherever she went, on trips and vacations and outings.  As she grew up, Julia grew busier and busier, and high school was a lot of work. But she had goals and she did everything she could to reach them. One of them was graduating two years early, which took up a lot of time and energy. After hours upon hours of studying, she finally graduated.  Taking a gap year beginning in 2020, the weirdest year of the century, she had no lack of other thi

The Christmas Celebration, Part 2

Christmas Morning, 2016

The stockings were hung on the fireplace, the tree was loaded with presents... all that was left was for the girls to wake up. That didn't take long.

"Merry Christmas!" Katie shrieked, hugging Amy tightly.

"Merry Christmas!" Samantha greeted Julie. It didn't take them long to discover their stockings.

Amy's favorite stocking stuffer was a doll with curly hair.

Julie got a whole bunch of jewelry charms to make necklaces out of.

Samantha got a book charm, and couldn't wait to have Julie string it into a necklace.

Josefina loved her cookie cutter set.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Elly hopped up from her seat on the floor.
"Grace!" she squealed, running to the door.

The door was cracked open slightly.

"Grace, is that you?" Elly asked, befuddled as she turned the corner.

"Oh!" she exclaimed as she opened the door.

"Hi! Is this Light4theLord's room?" she asked. Elly just stood there, surprised. Numbly, she nodded.

"I'm Madi." the girl waved.
"You guys!" Elizabeth called as she led Madi to the group.

Samantha was the first to look up.
"Hi!" she jumped up.
Samantha retrieved the last unnoticed stocking and Elly instructed Madi to take a seat.

"Hi!" Madi waved as she sat down. The others were just as surprised at first.
"What's your name?" Amelia inquired.
"Madelon Sarah McCormick. I'm named for L4TL's three best friends." she explained, her golden hair hanging in braids down her back.
"Welcome to the family, Madelon!" Julie hugged her tightly. "I'm so glad you're here!"
"We didn't know we were getting a new sister for Christmas," Katie explained.
"Even Light4theLord wasn't sure," Madi told them. "It was just a tiny glimmer of hope until I got here."

She emptied the contents of her stocking, but the first one she picked up was a camera charm.
"This one's my favorite." she told her new sisters. "Because it means a lot to me..."

As soon as everyone was done with their stockings, Julie offered to do their hair (which everyone readily agreed to). They changed into their Christmas dresses, even Madi, who had a secret one hidden away by L4TL.

And soon they were ready to start the Christmas Celebration.

I'm SO excited to have Madi here at Dolls N' All! I love her already! My mom and I actually rescued her from Goodwill a few months ago, and she has a few spots on her face, which are her special birthmarks now. I was so happy to open my second-to-last present and find her! Even I wasn't sure if I was going to get her for my birthday or for Christmas (my birthday is still a bit off)! I think that Madi is going to be my little twin and share a lot that I have!
Her name also means a lot to me:
Madelon, for Madison (they share a nickname, Madi)
Sarah, for another best friend, Sarah, who you will see a bit more about in the next part of the Christmas Celebration (I'm waiting a bit to do the gift part in case I get something else doll-related from my cousins or grandparents!)
McCormick, for my other best friend (it's her last name)

  1. Yay! You got a new doll! Madeline is so cute. Congrats! What # TM is she? Or is she actually a Kirsten doll?

    1. I'm super excited! Thanks! She's adorable, and her hair is really soft! That, I'm actually not quite sure. She looks almost identical to Kirsten, and she's a Pleasant Company doll, but then again... a lot of the TM (or Girl of Today, or whatever they were called) when Kirsten was around had the same hairstyle, face mold, and eye color. I'm going to do some research about that!

  2. Congratulations on Madi! If she is a JLY doll I believe she is actually super rare.

    1. Thanks! I love her! I didn't know that (thanks for reminding me, it WAS JustLikeYou, wasn't it (when Kirsten was around)?) she was rare... hmmm.. I think I'll go right now and stop putting off the research!

  3. I think Madelon is either Kirsten, AGOT 3, or TM 51. If you need more info, you should check AG Wiki-that site is really helpful in cases of doll identification.

    1. I think you're right! Thanks for helping me out by narrowing it down! When I studied her in comparison to the pictures of the dolls you suggested, I think that I eliminated JLY 3, though I can't be POSTIVE. I'm really leaning towards her being Kirsten, because Kirsten's hair is a bit darker and though it could tend to be due to her being from GW, I think her hair is too dark for JLY 51. Thank you so much again!!! I really appreciate it! Do you have a doll blog?

    2. I do, but since my parents are WAY overprotective, they won't let anyone that I don't know in real life read it. Sorry! But, it's called Sew Sweet Dollies because I love to sew clothes for my dolls. 😊

    3. I TOTALLY understand! The Internet can be a really scary place sometimes. That's neat - what's your favorite thing you've ever sewn for your dolls? I'm horrible at sewing for dolls... :D One of my mini doll outfits popped seconds after I put it on Melody!

    4. Well actually, I just finished sewing Molly's pajamas for Addy, except they're purple instead of red and white. They turned out so cute! I adore them, but the took FOREVER to make!!!!! Plus, the directions were not very well written. I don't think I have a favorite thing, though. I've sewn so much, it's too hard to choose! XD

    5. Wow! That sounds great! Did you use the old Pleasant Company patterns? I used one for Samantha's party dress (here's the post about it http://dollsnall.blogspot.com/2016/08/a-surprise-for-elizabeth.html) and it was REALLY hard because the directions were confusing. My grandmother helped A LOT! I liked how it turned out though!

    6. Yeah, I did! It's true, the directions were not well written. I love sewing with my grandma too! She taught me how when I was six, and now I'm practically a pro! 😜

    7. Also, that dress you made for Elizabeth is gorgeous! They should have made that Samantha's BeForever meet outfit, instead of the one she has. Your version is way prettier!

    8. I'm VERY thankful I had my grandmother to help me with the pattern! Sometimes even she got turned around! I started sewing with my grandmother when I was younger too, but I didn't keep up with it as often! I'm glad I know how to though, it's quite a handy skill! Thank you! I was very pleased with how it turned out for the first try! I think both are pretty!

    1. I really am enjoying it and I was so excited (the first doll that was given to me since 2010!)! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had tons of fun writing and taking the pictures, though I'm still not done (I think it'll last through this week until my big New Year surprise!)

  6. AWWW! I LOVE this post! Congratulations on getting Madi! When I read that her nickname was Madi I literally had my jaw drop in shock and kept reading in total awe and amazement!! <3 <3 <3 In my opinion, she does indeed look like a Kirsten, and she is so beautiful! Goodwill, you say? I am totally going to check Goodwill and see if they have any AG dolls that I can fix up! LOL! Do you remember how much y'all got her for?

Merry (belated) Christmas, Light4theLord! It has been SO AWESOME to get to know you this year and I am so blessed and thankful to have a phenomenal friend like you!!

    1. Thanks! I love her and I thought it'd be really super cool to have her named after my three best friends, why not?! :D Yes! We got her at Goodwill. She does still have a few little spots on her face, which are her special birthmarks, but I still love her! I think it was around 40ish... but one of my friends got Mia (YES, MIA! I wish I had found Mia too!) for two dollars. TWO! That would've been really cool!!
Merry Christmas to you too! I got your card a few days ago and was so super excited! I'm working on a letter back but I haven't gotten it sent yet (sorry!)! I can't wait until DWOD is back up with the finished server so we can keep chatting! Until then, though, we can always stay over here for a little while!
I LOVE having a fantabulous friend like you!! I looked up how far (approximately) we are apart and... *sniffs sadly* we're eight hours apart. *sobs* Oh well. I'll keep praying that we'll get to meet someday!!

    2. Madison-will you be going to Gabriela's release? It would be great to finally meet you!

    3. Oh my goodness, Mia for two dollars?! WOW!
Guess what!? My best friends' in Texas have neighbors who have American Girl dolls but don't play with them. One of them is Molly - I know I already have Molly, but they might have some other dolls that are retired! I'm wanting to see if they'll consider selling any of their dolls, so I might actually have the experience of buying a doll secondhand and fixing her up! I really hope they have some retired ones or ones I don't have (and that they are willing to sell them for not-too-much!).
I am so super glad you got the card!! (And no problem!)
Me too!! <3 And nooooo! *cries* Me, too! I'll keep praying that one day we'll get to meet as well! It would be so awesome to hopefully meet up at an AG store one day, too!

Izzy - I really wish I was, but unfortunately, I'm not. But it would be so awesome to finally meet you, too!

    4. Yes! I know, that's crazy! She's the Mia in this post: https://dollsnall.blogspot.com/2016/11/fashion-friday-guest-post-by-jaimie-and.html Are you serious?!?!? That'd be so cool! It'd be really cool if they had the retired ones!!! Let me know if you ever get to get some of them!!! IKR?!?! I was kinda hoping it'd be shorter than that. Nope. :( I'll keep praying too! I'm going to try to save up as much money as I can so that maybe I can go to the store (you know which one) sometime... I really wanted to go to Gabriela's release, but no one would take me (yeah, that's kinda reasonable, dontcha think? Last time we went to Isabelle's release and it was CRAZY.) and it's on a Sunday. :D

And I know, right!! I totally will let you know if I get some!! I'm super excited about it! :D Yeah, same here. :( Ooh, that's awesome! Yeah, I wanted to go to Gabriela's release, too :( (LOL! And yeah :P).

    6. She did a really great job, didn't she?! Oh, good! A lot of people keep saying how they don't like Gabby. I can really see both sides: she IS an almost exact copy of the retired TM, and she has a small collection and a recycled story, but I still think she's really pretty and her meet outfit is cute (I love the top!). At least AG finally made her!
