Elly and Jules were normally the only early birds, especially on a Saturday morning.
"Happy birthday, little sis," Julie whispered as she crept into the kitchen quietly, so as not to wake the others. Startled, Elly turned and paused.
"Thanks, Julie." Elly smiled. "I thought everyone had forgotten. I mean, after the whole birthday thing about never celebrating, I thought Light4theLord would... nevermind. Thanks."
"Elly," Julie took Elly's hands. "I'd never forget! We're special sisters! We've been here together- forever... ever since Christmas of 2010! What do you say we go celebrate with breakfast and, oh, perhaps a trip to the hair salon?" Elly laughed.
"The hair salon?" she giggled.
"Yeah, in case Light4theLord wants to take your birthday photoshoot!"
"I doubt she remembered." Elly murmured, then grinned again. "Deal. Let's go!"
"What's wrong?" Julie asked tenderly.
"I just.." Elly paused. "I guess I kinda wished for my thirteenth birthday to be.. big. Celebrated. Important, you know,"
"No matter what," Julie embraced her sister. "I'll make it that."
"I'm always here for you." Julie whispered. "Hey, maybe we can make it a makeover! Nails and everything!"
"I don't think so," Elly laughed. "That's not exactly what I was thinking of."
"Of course not," Julie giggled. "You'd rather go to the animal shelter." They both laughed until a movement in the bedroom reminded them to quiet down.
"Let's go!" Elly tugged.

In the plush waiting area of the salon, Elly sat, somewhat out of place in a luxurious, pink area, and Jules, oblivious to her sister's thoughts was expertly texting her friends.
"It's so fancy in here." she mused.
"You excited about your birthday?"
Elly nodded.
"Don't worry, I brought the hearts dress that you love- even if Light4theLord doesn't have time for a photoshoot, I still want some pictures for my screensaver, right?!"
Julie kept talking, keeping Elizabeth busy- anything to divert attention from her phone, where Josie's texts were coming directly, and silently. Everything was so perfect, it'd be horrible if the surprise was ruined now, by a single text.
"Hey, maybe we can Facetime with Grace or something!" Julie suggested. Only for a second did Julie's eyes dart down to the message that had quietly vibrated in her hand.
We're almost ready. Are ya'll?
Out of the corner of her eye, Julie read the text before debating. Should she reply and try to hide it from Elly? No- this called for her expertise in single-handed texting. Her thumb flew over the phone screen, as she continued to chat with Elly.
Almost done. 1 hour max, be ready in forty five.
With a quick sight of relief, she quickly slid the phone beside her.
"Hey, they're ready for us!" Julie motioned toward the door. As Elly proceeded ahead, Julie breathed in deeply. "So far so good."
