life ~ a photostory

~ a life update in the form of a photostory ~ this is truly Julia's aesthetic, entirely by accident, most of her closet is blue and white stripes. she's always either wearing her airplane propeller necklace or her dream necklace, wearing double dutch braids.  Once upon a time, there was a girl named Julia. She was a dreamer, one with a good imagination and wide horizons. Some of her happiest days as a teenager were spent taking photos of dolls, lying in the street to get the perfect angle. Her dolls were like built in friends, companions wherever she went, on trips and vacations and outings.  As she grew up, Julia grew busier and busier, and high school was a lot of work. But she had goals and she did everything she could to reach them. One of them was graduating two years early, which took up a lot of time and energy. After hours upon hours of studying, she finally graduated.  Taking a gap year beginning in 2020, the weirdest year of the century, she had no lack of other thi

Movie Monday!

Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front is a perfect way to start of our Movie Monday series on July 4th, because the Molly movie is all about being patriotic!

The story starts with Molly and her friends, Linda and Susan. They spend a lot of time together at school and at home. Molly is very close to her family, and when her father, who is a doctor, decides to go to England to help America’s wounded soldiers it causes Molly to become upset. As the story continues, Molly’s mother goes to work at a factory and Mrs. Gilford, who is the McIntire’s neighbor, comes and babysits Molly and her siblings while their mother is away. One day, Molly comes home with her friends and encounters a girl in her home that is from England, Emily. At first, Emily is quiet and shy and tells the girls her background, including a large manor, servants, and tea with the princesses.

After finding out about a tap-dancing opportunity, Molly is determined to work hard over the summer to become Miss Victory. Somewhere along the line, the McIntire family finds out that Dr. McIntire has been classified Missing.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Another story within the movie is about Molly’s favorite teacher, Miss Campbell. It’s a typical sweetheart story with her fiancé being drafted and then ends up dying.

Emily ends up pouring out her story to Molly late at night during a sad but sweet scene. She really came from a small home where her mother died and they were merely living above a small shop in a tiny apartment.

Molly does end up becoming Miss Victory, and after the Christmas show at school, she suddenly sees her father causing a reunion of the family. Anyways, it’s a sweet ending at Christmas!

I liked this AG movie a lot, one of my favorites of the historical movies. Maya Ritter, a Canadian actress (what?!?!?!)  stars as Molly. I love the acting, it’s really good and the story is really sweet. I’d recommend this one! Really, I have no complaints! To me, the whole movie is historically accurate, which would be harder than the GOTY movies (yet I like it more!). Here’s a couple pictures I grabbed off Bing. Enjoy!
